Martin Pears Engineering Limited is a family run agricultural supplies business in South Devon, founded by Martin and Louise Pears in 2006, we pride ourselves on our deep understanding of agriculture and commitment to providing excellent service. Our company offers a wide range of well-known brands including Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and CFMoto ATV’s and UTV’s, alongside a dedicated service and parts department, and a thriving country store.
Role Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Service Team, you will perform build, PDI, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of new and used quad bikes (ATV’s) and utility vehicles (UTV’s), trailers, agricultural machinery and more. This is a varied role predominantly working on ATV’s and UTV’s.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out build to specification on new ATV’s, UTV’s and trailers along with Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI), carry out necessary service and repairs on a wide range of ATV’s, UTV’s, trailers and machinery
• Perform diagnostic testing to identify and address faults
• Visit customers for on-site servicing, repairs, and fault finding.
• Ensure thorough and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork, including job cards, machine details, time and mileage records, and any accompanying documentation such as PDI sheets and delivery forms.
• Attend manufacturers training courses as required by the company to maintain satisfactory levels of compliance and understanding.
• Follow assignments through to completion, meeting deadlines and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a safe and productive working environment.
Work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Mechanical experience in performing general servicing and repairs on motor vehicles both with petrol and diesel engines and the desire to work with quads and buggies where you can transfer this knowledge for a varied work role. Ideally suit a mechanic who has been working in a garage and would like a more varied role.
Willingness to work with agricultural equipment which sometimes isn’t the cleanest! We do have a steam cleaner!!
Ability to diagnose faults and successfully carry out repairs.
Completion of job cards and associated paperwork to a high standard.
A common sense approach to work and ability to work as part of a team with four other engineers.
Full driver’s licence.
Qualifications:
Minimum NVQ2 in Mechanics or a relevant qualification is preferred. However, experience in mechanics is essential.
Experience in Agricultural Engineering is not essential, but a genuine interest in the field is necessary.
