We are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as an Industrial Fellow in Leadership and/or People Management.
About the Role
This post is ideally suited to a practitioner with substantial recent leadership and management experience, who is looking to contribute to the academic environment through teaching, curriculum development, and applied knowledge exchange.
The successful candidate will:
Contribute to the design and delivery of Degree Apprenticeship, Undergraduate, and Master’s programmes, bringing real-world insight into learning environments.
Engage with industry and professional bodies to inform curriculum relevance, promote student opportunities, and support the University’s external partnerships.
Support the Department’s mission to deliver practice-informed education aligned with Aston’s 2030 Strategy.
Maintain and develop their own professional capabilities, and contribute to upskilling students and staff in emerging leadership practices.
Be an active and collegial member of the Department, committed to inclusive education and continuous development.
Depending on experience and interests, there may be opportunities to contribute to applied research, enterprise, and programme leadership activities.
What We’re Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in:
Leadership, people management, human resources, or organisational development, ideally in complex or regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, public sector, large-scale private organisations).
Creating impact through mentoring, professional development, or strategic people initiatives.
Building and sustaining networks across sectors, with a commitment to collaboration and innovation.
You will have:
A Master’s degree, or equivalent professional qualification and experience in a relevant field.
A track record of professional excellence and a passion for supporting others' development.
The ability to work in a student-centred, inclusive, and collegial academic environment.
Why Join Aston?
We offer a dynamic academic environment with strong industry ties, dedicated support for professional development, and a commitment to impactful education. The Department has growing activity in healthcare leadership, ethical HRM, and inclusive management practice—areas where your contribution can make a difference.
The post-holder will report to the Head of Department.
The salary being offered for this role does not meet the minimum threshold required to sponsor new applicants to the Skilled Worker visa route. For candidates who do not already have a Skilled Worker visa, it is unlikely that Aston University will be able to offer sponsorship under this route.
