We are looking for a dynamic person to join our Specialist Community Mental Health Team as a band 6 Duty Co-ordinator.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the duty function of the team for the planning and implementation of evidence based care to a defined group of service users and their carers within a specific catchment. They will also provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multidisciplinary team, to act as a role model and resource for junior/less experienced staff.

The team operates a daily duty service made up of the duty co-ordinator and other colleagues from the wider MDT. The primary function is to respond to crisis and offer support to those on the team caseload. As the duty co-ordinator you will oversee the daily function of the duty service including effective risk management and care. You will be responsible for the planning of duty cover including the duty rota. You will have the support and supervision of your Team Lead, and as a Band 6 clinician, you will be expected to act as a supervisor and resource for junior or less experienced staff.

You will be able to draw on the interventions and expertise provided by your MDT colleagues, such as Support Workers, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Employment Specialists, Family Therapists and Medical Colleagues.

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

Some of your typical duties as a duty co-ordinator may include (but are not limited to):

· Continually assess risk and design personalised risk management plans

· Co-ordinating the daily depot diary

· Facilitate referral to crisis teams or admission to hospital where necessary, plus providing presence and involvement in inpatient care plan and discharge planning.

· Administration of long-acting anti-psychotic depot injections in a community setting

· Monitoring of medication adherence and any potential side-effects. Organising medical reviews when indicated.

· Identify any possible safeguarding concerns and be responsible for the completion of safeguarding investigations.

· Ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 are observed, adhered to and implemented

· Support the promotion of carer and service user involvement within the service and for its provision plus ensuring carer’s needs are identified and responded to.

· Managing the duty rota

· Liaison and building rapport with other services including non-statutory

· Attending visits as required

· Ensuring safe and effective handover

· Receiving telephone calls into the duty service

· Attend professional meetings such as Tribunals and Safeguarding
