Under the supervision of the Unit manager the post holder will be responsible for delivering the provision, organisation, and direct nursing care for the Urology patients within the outpatient setting. Demonstrating effective communication skills that can be used for all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care is provided for all patients
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis due to funding and will end in 18 months. Whilst this post is advertised on a secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

· Assist the Clinicians/Urology Nurse Specialist in efficient running of outpatient clinics.
· Preparation for procedures and treatments including Flexible cystoscopy, Intravesical Botox, Transperineal Prostate biopsy, scrub for Vasectomies and future innovations in urology techniques.
· Perform flow rate/bladder scan.
· Counselling patients prior to procedures/discharging.
· Administering bladder instillations for patients.
· To ensure good organisational skills when supervising the maintenance contracts of equipment and ordering adequate stocks levels
· Performing/managing nurse led clinic for Trial without catheters (TWOC)
· Performing catheterisation insertion/replacement for Male and Female (urethral/suprapubic catheter changes).
· Educating patients and family members on catheter care/Urological conditions.
· Teaching patients to perform Intermittent Self-Catheterisation/Self dilatation.
· Ensure clear and precise documentation is always used.
· To demonstrate a competent level of IT skills to meet the needs of the role.
· Ensure respect and privacy are maintained.
· Demonstrate flexibility in the role in the department.
· Demonstrate the safe use of equipment.
· Able to order and perform blood collection and obtain specimens accurately.
· Liaise with other members of the Primary care teams such as GPs, District nurses and Continence Teams.
