East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) is a large, diverse and complex organisation with an active and vibrant Research & Innovation (R&I) department. An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy cancer research team based in the Kent & Canterbury Hospital in East Kent.

The post holder will provide clinical research nursing support to consultant oncologists and haematologists. This will include taking responsibility for the management, co-ordination and facilitation of concurrent cancer research studies. In addition to the clinic/patient based tasks, this role includes document generation and control, project tracking and logistics, data collection, adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and research governance and assisting in the continued improvement in the care of research participants and quality of research data.

Due to the nature of research and potential fluctuations in study demands and/or workload and staffing levels, it may be necessary for the post holder to cover additional specialties and/or sites as required, therefore flexibility is essential.

Applications are invited for the post of Cancer Research Nurse at the East Kent Cancer Research Centre, based at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

The appointee will participate in clinical research activities involving both Investigator-led and Commercially sponsored randomised controlled clinical trials for cancer patients. The East Kent Cancer Research Centre has built up a national and international reputation for recruiting well into clinical studies. The post holder will lead on a variety of different clinical trials taking responsibility for the co-ordination, facilitation and delivery of concurrent research studies. You will be expected to develop a productive working relationship with national research institutes and the pharmaceutical industry and will also be expected to participate in teaching & audit projects. There is opportunity for national and international meetings. You will be based within a supportive and friendly research team of, nursing, medical and administrative staff. Ideally we are looking for someone with experience of clinical researchorknowledge of cancer/chemotherapy, good verbal and written communication skills and experience of working in an acute health care setting.
