Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality care and support to children and young people living in the home, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met. Residential Support Workers play a key role in helping young people develop life skills, confidence, and resilience through positive relationships and structured routines.

Key Responsibilities:
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people to support their emotional and behavioural development
• Promote safeguarding and ensure the safety and welfare of each young person at all times
• Support children with daily routines, including personal care, meals, school attendance, health appointments, and leisure activities
• Encourage and facilitate the development of life skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and self-care
• Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies
• Maintain clear, accurate, and timely records including daily logs, incident reports, and handovers
• Work effectively as part of a team, contributing to care planning and attending regular supervision and training
• Support children in managing difficult emotions or behaviours, using de-escalation and restorative approaches in line with home policy
• Participate in household duties to ensure the home remains clean, safe, and welcoming
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to continuous improvement of the service

Essential Requirements:
• Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (residential care, education, youth work, or similar)
• A caring, patient, and empathetic nature with a strong understanding of trauma and attachment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Desirable:
• Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within 2 years of employment)
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience working in a regulated children’s home setting
