Job Title: Finance Assistant
Reports to: Financial Controller
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our busy finance team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance processes, including cost tracking, payroll administration, pension support, and purchase ledger responsibilities.
The successful candidate will also have working knowledge of ERP systems, and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely payments, and supporting the wider finance team with core day-to-day duties.
Key Responsibilities
Costing: Assist with product or project costing, ensuring accuracy in cost allocations and identifying variances.
Payroll Support: Process payroll data in line with deadlines; liaise with HR and payroll providers where required.
Pensions Administration: Support pension enrolment, deductions, and liaison with pension providers.
Purchase Ledger:
Process supplier invoices and match with purchase orders
Maintain the purchase ledger, reconcile statements, and prepare payment runs
Ensure accurate coding and timely resolution of queries
ERP Use: Enter and maintain financial data within the ERP system; run basic reports and support reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end close processes as required.
Assist the wider finance team with other administrative or reporting tasks as needed.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in a similar finance/accounts role (costing, payroll, purchase ledger).
Working knowledge of ERP or finance systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Sage, NetSuite).
Good understanding of basic accounting principles and controls.
Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
Proficiency in Excel and general IT systems.
A team player with excellent communication skills.
Desirable
Familiarity with pension legislation and payroll compliance.
AAT qualification or working towards (preferred but not essential).
