Summary
Our client's clientis an established Expert Witness Company with almost 40 years' experience and have an excellent reputation within the litigation field for providing high quality expert witness reports in the fields of Nursing and Occupational Therapy. Their Occupational Therapists also undertake Immediate Needs Assessments for those with life-changing injuries.
Being part of our client, they are invested in training and development of Occupational Therapists who wish to develop their knowledge further and have:
- Registration with HCPC
- 8 years minimum post graduate experience
- Capacity of around 3 days a week to work alongside their clinical role with flexible working hours
- Committed to undertake training and development
As an Expert Witness, you will have a unique opportunity to use your specialist experience to assist courts and legal professionals in serious personal injury and clinical negligence cases.
Depending on areas of expertise you may be required to:
Prepare Care reports, using your professional recommendations and expertise. Following through the case from the initiation to completion including timely review of new evidence and documentation, responding to queries from legal professionals, attending case conferences with barristers, participating in experts' meetings, as well as providing oral evidence in Court if required.
They are looking for Occupational Therapists in England with extensive experience in the following:
- Brain Injury
- Spinal Injury
- Amputations
- Managing care packages in the community
- Managing multi-disciplinary teams
- Dealing with equipment needs
- Working with clients who have catastrophic injuries

Training & Support
Our client's client provides a robust training and mentorship program, delivered over three separate days to support new expert witnesses throughout their initial and ongoing learning process. You will need to commit to their training dates and produce training reports.
All members of their mentoring and quality assurance team have extensive experience in the medical legal field. They pride themselves on providing one to one peer support. There is also administrative and in-house technical support offering assistance as and when required.

Successful Candidates
Successful candidates should have the ability to:
- Undertake a holistic assessment; pick up on non-verbal cues; empathise with the individual's situation and relate to different people from different backgrounds.
- Travel to assess individuals in their own homes, both in the UK and at times abroad.
- Have a comprehensive grasp of the English language and high standards of written English, with attention to detail required.
- Be flexible and adaptable.
- Make decisions and seek appropriate support where and when necessary.
- Have experience of care / rehabilitation within the community.
- Have self-confidence and assertiveness.
- Project a professional image when attending a Case Conference or attending Court.
- Manage their own time and to be able to work under time constraints and strict Court deadlines.
