Crynodeb

At Booker Group, we\\'re all about creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. As a key member of our HR Change & Policy team, you\\'ll get to shape our employment policies and practices, making sure they\\'re legally compliant, benchmarked, and straightforward. This is a brand-new role, giving you the chance to make a real impact and drive continuous improvement across our organisation.

As our HR Policy and Compliance Partner, you’ll have a strong background in Employee Relations (ER) and will be responsible for understanding employment law and trends to set policy and contract positions, providing advice on complex cases, and managing relationships with third-party employment solicitors. You\\'ll oversee tribunals and early conciliation cases, upskill the HR team and managers, and be responsible for HR risk and audit processes.

Please note; this role does NOT include managing a case load prior to early conciliation.

  • Develop and update policies and contracts that reflect the latest employment law changes, market trends, and internal insights.
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Reward & Benefits Manager to cost out policy and contract proposals.
  • Provide expert policy advice on complex employee relations cases.
  • Manage our relationship with Employment Solicitors, overseeing early conciliations and tribunal cases to ensure smooth resolution.
  • Monitor solicitor services to guarantee quality, responsiveness, and valuable learning for our teams.
  • Influence the People agenda by driving risk reduction and enhancing case management through training for managers and HR.
  • Lead ongoing development of the HR team’s employee relations expertise.
  • Oversee the People Risk Register, ensuring accurate tracking and timely follow-up.
  • Project manage Group People Audits, driving completion and actionable next steps.
  • Facilitate governance processes for the People Leadership Team.
  • Solid knowledge of employment law and employee relations, with the ability to break down complex legal concepts into clear, easy-to-understand advice.
  • Strong project management abilities and the knack for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills to connect quickly with both internal teams and external partners.
  • A pragmatic decision-maker who weighs multiple perspectives to find the best course of action.
  • Experience navigating the tribunal system and managing tribunal cases would be a bonus — but don’t worry if you’re still building this skill!
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a growth mindset.
  • Natural curiosity and a proactive attitude toward staying ahead with the latest developments.
  • Confidence to challenge and stimulate the thinking of colleagues — including senior leaders — to drive better outcomes.
