What skills and experience we're looking for

Mayfield School is looking for a positive and efficient clerical assistantto join our team. Our school is a special school for 310 pupils aged between 2 and 19 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities including autism.

The school is split across two sites - Wheeler Street in Lozells (co-located with Holte School and Lozells Junior and Infant School and Nursery) and Heathfield Road in Handsworth. Successful applicants can be asked to work at either site depending on the needs of the school.

At Mayfield School, all staff are valued and respected, irrespective of role, and we recognise the contribution all staff make to ensuring our pupils receive a good education. All staff are role models for children and young people and we expect them to interact with pupils positively at every opportunity.

The clerical assistant has a front facing role, meeting and communicating with parents, colleagues, visitors and other school stakeholders. This is a rewarding job and one where positivity, efficiency and problem-solving skills are celebrated.

A recent welbee staff survey showed Mayfield as being in the top 20% of schools showing that risks of work-related stress and staff wellbeing are effectively managed and controlled. Employees tell us that they value the in-house training offered by the school and welcome the professional development opportunities available to them.

School experience is not necessary providing you have a willingness to learn and an appreciation of how this role affects the educational experience of our pupils. We are a Rights Respecting School and expect all adults to act as duty bearers.

We are proud to be part of Education Impact Academy Trust where "better never ends".
