Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster

Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver "better trained sailors to the front line faster".

As an instructor, you'll play a vital role in training Royal Navy students in External Communications and Cryptographic Maintenance, delivering hands-on instruction to Phase 3 CIS(T) Maintainers within the Weapons Engineering department.

You'll be responsible for teaching the maintenance of critical communication and cryptographic hardware, ensuring students gain the technical skills they need. Reporting to the Training Delivery Team Leader (Sensors/CIS), you'll deliver high-quality, safe, and consistent training using best practices and harmonised approaches that support excellence across the Weapons Engineering training area. What you'll be doing:

• Training military students in External Communication and Cryptographic Maintenance
• Supporting personalised learning by working with L&D and training staff to tailor training to each trainee's needs, while promoting modernised courses and cultural change.
• Maintaining electrical equipment used for training
• Sharing and applying best practices across establishments to enhance training quality.
• Standardising training systems and processes across all Royal Navy Weapons Engineering training locations.

What we're looking for:

• Experience of maintenance of Royal Navy Communications systems.
• Experience of maintenance of Cryptographic systems
• Team player with experience leading and collaborating cross-team to ensure successful delivery of training.
• HNC in electronics (minimum) or equivalent
• Military weapon engineering communication systems or equivalent experience would be desirable
• Any previous teaching/training experience would be beneficial
• Proficiency in using IT (hardware/software) within the workplace
• Ability to gain UK SC clearance.

About Selborne

Selborne is a wide scale, 12 year transformation of Royal Navy Training. The contract worth GBP 1 billion was awarded in December 2020 to a consortium led by Capita to deliver and modernise training for the RN. The consortia of partners known as Team Fisher includes Raytheon UK, Fujitsu and University of Lincoln together with 14 other UK-based suppliers.
