An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the newly developing Barnet CEN Pathway team at a time of innovation and service development. This role will be involved, as part of the wider team, in helping to adapt the existing service within the new transformation process. This is post is to support the ongoing work within the Community Transformation, to compliment the Barnet CEN Pathway team and enhance patient care.
The post holder will work as an Assistant Psychologist within the Barnet CEN pathway team. The role will support clinical work, clinically related administrative functioning of the team, audits and/or research projects, and supporting teaching and facilitation of outcome monitoring and evaluation.
All clinical work will be under supervision of a qualified Psychologist. This may include assisting with assessments and delivering interventions for clients in both individual and group formats, as well as joint working with members of MDTs.
· To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans, including psychologically informed interventions, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (using the Dialog + care planning tool when available).
· To assist in the coordination and running of group
• To be able to initiate referrals to other health professionals in specialist services and agencies.
· Working with clients to establish their emotional/psychological/social needs. Helping to prepare clients for longer term psychological input. Offering emotional support, supporting clients with motivation and engagement.
· Supporting with social needs, supporting the facilitation of clients who need to navigate the mental health system in the different stages of their treatment
· To assimilate data as required with regards to care pathway and waiting times.
· To assimilate and analyse pre and post treatment measures to reflect good practice, evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
Clinical:
· To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans, including psychologically informed interventions, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (using the Dialog + care planning tool when available).
· To assist in the coordination and running of groups.
· To be able to exchange complex information with clients, families, carers, staff and members of the public using sensitivity and empathy and ensuring collaborative working.
· To assist in the development of a psychologically informed thinking to the benefit of staff, clients and their families and carers.
· To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary clinical meetings.
· To be able to initiate referrals to other health professionals in specialist services and agencies.
· To ensure practice is supported by research and evidence-based practice.
· Working with clients to establish their emotional/psychological/social needs. Helping to prepare clients for longer term psychological input. Offering emotional support, supporting clients with motivation and engagement.
· Supporting with social needs, supporting the facilitation of clients who need to navigate the mental health system in the different stages of their treatment
· To work according to the principles of “Trauma Informed Care/Intervention”.
Teaching, training, and supervision
· To attend all mandatory training and ensure own continued professional development, supporting a culture of learning in self and others.
· To receive regular clinical supervision and attend appraisals in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
· To gain wider experience of professional psychology within the NHS across the range of the borough’s community mental health services.
· To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties.
· To assist in the training and support of other staff as required.
Management, recruitment, policy and service development
· To assist in the design and implementation of service development projects as required.
· To attend meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed.
IT responsibilities
· To ensure accurate recording of actions and updating client records, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
· To be able to send and receive emails, including attachments.
· To be able to competently use a word processing package.
· To have good working knowledge of database packages.
Research and service evaluation
· To assimilate data as required with regards to care pathway and waiting times.
· To assimilate and analyse pre and post treatment measures to reflect good practice, evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence.
· To be instrumental in developing data base systems that can effectively report on psychological provision using a variety of parameters.
· Audit information to be communicated in an accessible and transparent format.
· To assist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects.
· To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes.
· To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical psychologists in evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
