Summary

Be the driving force behind a college where people and potential come first.

At Gateshead College we deliver Education with Employment Edge. We believe education transforms lives - and that transformation is shaped by the environment in which it happens.

Due to retirement, we're looking for a dynamic and strategic Head of Estates and Facilities who understands that buildings are more than bricks and mortar - they’re about identity, community, and opportunity.

This is more than a technical leadership role as you'll be responsible for:

Leading, developing, and motivating a dedicated team of five direct reports and a wider team of around 60 individuals.
Overseeing a £5m operating budget, with £1.7m allocated over the next three years for planned renovations.
Managing and enhancing four key sites: the Baltic Campus, Academy for Sport, Skills Academy for Construction, and Skills Academy for Automotive and Engineering.
Creating and maintaining high-quality, agile, and future-proof learning and working environments.
Delivering modern, tech-enabled spaces for our 8,460 students.
Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and sustainable estate that embodies our brand and ambitions.
Managing resources efficiently to meet both local and regional needs.
Upholding excellence in maintenance, health and safety, and space utilisation.
But beyond the essentials, we’re looking for someone with vision and heart - someone who recognises that place shapes experience. Someone who sees the college as a catalyst for personal growth, community engagement, and environmental leadership.

What we’re really after:

A leader who places people at the centre of every plan - students, staff, and our wider community.
A champion of sustainability and inclusion who ensures our estate supports our ambition to be greener, more accessible, and future-ready.
A strategic thinker who understands how physical environments influence belonging, creativity, and readiness for the world of work.
A proud custodian of our brand and values, with a passion for creating spaces that inspire pride, purpose, and progress.
This is your opportunity to play a key role in shaping a college that’s not just a place to study or work - but a place to thrive.
