The Property and Asset Strategy (PAS) team plays a critical role in shaping and managing the long-term future of Parliament's Estate. As part of the Strategic Estates Directorate, the team delivers expert guidance on property and asset management, ensuring that Parliament's buildings are safe, sustainable, and fit for purpose. Our in-house professionals lead on design, engineering, conservation, and building performance, directly supporting both Houses of Parliament and helping to preserve this historic and world-renowned institution.
The RoleAs a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be a subject matter expert within the PAS team, leading on the development of electrical engineering strategies across the Parliamentary Estate. You will provide authoritative advice, manage consultants, and shape long-term infrastructure decisions to ensure safe, resilient, and future-ready electrical systems. Your work will contribute to the effective operation of Parliamentary buildings and the strategic planning of services such as lighting, life safety systems, and low-voltage distribution networks.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

Leading feasibility studies and option appraisals for upgrading electrical infrastructure

Developing lifecycle strategies and technical standards for electrical systems, lifts, and lighting

Providing expert advice on maintenance planning, compliance testing and commissioning methods

Supporting delivery of major projects (up to £50M in value), including technical assurance at key stages

Acting as an expert witness or escalation point during infrastructure faults or disputes
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant institution (e.g. IET), and a BEng in Electrical Engineering or similar

Strong experience in low-voltage electrical distribution systems and infrastructure in multi-site estates

Ability to lead complex technical projects, with experience working both consultancy-side and client-side
-
In-depth knowledge of building services compliance, including BS7671, CDM regulations, and public sector procurement

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across teams and at senior levels
