Are you looking for the opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s lives through physical rehabilitation, supporting improvement in physical health, independence and ultimately the quality of life?

Bedfordshire Community Health Services are looking for a full time Assistant Practitioner to be part of the Community Occupational Therapy Service in North Bedfordshire. We are a 7-day service 8am-4pm.

You will need to be willing to learn strong assessment skills with a personalised approach, have the ability to carry out therapy assessments of people with a range of needs. After the assessment, you will then develop, implement, manage and review the planned recommendations. You will need to have or be willing to learn skills in moving and handling, risk assessing and identifying solutions to reduce risk to provide for the needs and personal outcomes of the individual, their families and carers.

You will build close links with the professionals and services required to wrap around the needs of each individual to provide a holistic approach.

You will be supervised by a qualified member of staff to support, up skill and ensure your wellbeing. You will support qualified members of staff with student placements and support the band 3’s within the service.

Work within the multidisciplinary team in a primary care setting including clients homes and residential homes, providing support fora variety of therapeutic and clinical interventions based on the team skill mix.

Participate in the assessment, implementation and individualised therapeutic interventions under the guidance of the multidisciplinary team.

To identify and provide appropriate assist equipment for clients to facilitate safety in their chosen environment.

To work autonomously and undertake lone working in the community.

To work a variety of shift patterns including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
