Summary
Home Office Digital, Data and Technology designs, builds and develops services for the rest of the department and for government. Every year our systems support up to 3 million visa applications, checks on 100 million border crossings, up to 8 million passport applications and deliver 140 million police checks on people, vehicles and property.
Within DDaT, the Data Services and Analytics (DSA) team find innovative uses for Home Office data and contains one of the most advanced data analytics centres in Government. As Business Management Support Officer in the DDaT Data Services & Analytics Business Management Team, you will organise your own work and direct team members, where appropriate. You will be able to work collaboratively within your Business Management Team and with Senior Managers to support the provision of business support activity. This will typically include stakeholder engagement across the Portfolio/Function.
You will support resource management and workforce planning, support communications, planning and scheduling, monitoring and reporting, governance and business continuity within your Portfolio/Function (as applicable).
You will manage and respond to enquiries from external and internal stakeholders and support others, including managers, on day-to-day issues across the range of business management activities. You will use your process and business knowledge to anticipate issues and take appropriate action to resolve these yourself or make recommendations for improvements or remedial action to senior managers.
Note: An employee may be required to carry out other duties within the scope of the grade and within the limits of their skill, competence and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing support and oversight (where appropriate) for the Data Services & Analytics Business Management Team, including inbox management, assuring responses, information management processes, continuous improvement and delivery of meetings/events etc.
- Ensuring the processing of onboarding and offboarding of permanent and temporary staff, including security clearances, is delivered effectively. Identifying blockages and failures (e.g. equipment returns) and taking remedial action or escalating depending on impact/risk.
- Providing support for recruitment planning, such as obtaining role definitions, external resources requests, escalating issues, e.g. accuracy or expiry dates.
- Supporting the work of the Data Services & Analytics People Working Group, including assuring the completion of mandated training and providing advice to Line Managers and staff on training requirements. Producing engagement communications.
- Providing support for the maintenance and testing of the Data Services and Analytics Business Continuity Plan, including ensuring call tree information is accurate and local guidance is maintained.
- Supporting development of team systems and processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness, including the effective management of administrative resources, where applicable.
Working Pattern
This role is available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 4 days / 30 hours per week due to business requirements.
Travel
Occasional travel to other HO locations may be required as part of this role.
