JOB DESCRIPTION

FEMALE Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a lady in my fifties, living in the area of Pontypridd.I have secondary progressive Multiple Sclerosis, which affects my balance, mobility, memory, energy, dexterity, and touch sensation. I also have asthma, type 2 diabetes, and joint issues, though these are less problematic. Before MS impacted my health, I completed a chiropractic degree but sadly can no longer work.

Although I do encounter some challenges, I still enjoy watching Wales play rugby, photography (especially nature), yoga (including retreats), singing, archaeology, visiting museums and the theatre, swimming (including cold water), crafts like card making, and cooking. I'm looking for someone to support me in these activities, as well as with personal care, housework, and shopping.

Dw i’n dysgu Cymraeg hefydd …I’m learning Welsh – not essential, but it’d be great if you speak some so I can practice!

I’m a Pagan (Druid) with an interest in alternative spiritualities and regularly attend Pagan Moots, soundbaths, and Shamanic gatherings. It’d be lovely to share this with someone open-minded and non-judgemental.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I am looking for someone to support me to take part in activities like yoga, photography, museum visits, swimming, theatre, rugby matches, shopping, retreats, and medical appointments. Assistance with showering, dressing, cooking, cleaning, and occasional lifting (e.g. moving my mobility scooter) is also required.

PLACE OF WORK

My home and also the wider community.

HOURS OF WORK

10.5 hours per week, times to be discussed

RATE OF PAY

£12.80 per hour plus double time on bank holiday and reasonable expenses reimbursed.

TASKS INVOLVED

Assistance with shopping
Assistance with socialising and accessing the wider community
Assistance with going to medical appointments
Assistance with attending my regular activities, including but not limited to yoga, photography, swimming, going to retreats, the theatre and to rugby.
Assistance with domestic chores including dusting/vacuuming/cleaning/cooking/changing the bed
Assistance with personal care
Assisting with my mobility scooter.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

A car driver is essential (my car is generally used for the purposes of going out etc, so it does not matter if you are not a car owner as long as you can get to me!)
Someone who is patient and understanding and who has a mature approach and a good sense of humour.
Someone who will respect confidentiality, privacy and my home and property.
Preferably someone who shares my enjoyment of yoga, singing, museums, rugby, photography and swimming, or who at the very least can respect my need to participate in these activities and so is willing to assist me in them.
