Dental Officer (Ref: 211298)
With Oral Surgery Option
Substantive or Fixed Term
Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified dentist to join our busy Public Dental Service, working in a salaried dental practice setting within modern and well-equipped surgeries. This is an excellent opportunity to join an evolving remote and rural dental team, with a strong focus on patient-centred care and continuous improvement.
We will require you to cover clinical requirements across NHS Shetland PDS Service. This will give an opportunity to experience a wide range of patient demographics and needs, provide care in different clinical settings and to experience variety as part of your working week.
Specifically, this role would suit a colleague with oral surgery experience and who would like to expand and develop that experience by working directly with the visiting consultant-led OMFS service.
With support from the SDO and Director of Dentistry, you will participate in a programme of supported CPD and have opportunities to formally develop additional skills and interests if desired.
Shetland is a great place to live and to work, offering a strong and welcoming community spirit, a safe environment for children, excellent schools and first-rate transport links to the rest of the UK.
NHS Shetland provides dental services through the Public Dental Service; NHS General Dental Services, Community Dentistry, secondary care dental services (orthodontics, restorative and maxillofacial surgery) through a clinical network of visiting consultants; dental care for priority groups with special needs; school inspections and oral health promotion services. The workforce consists of dentists, therapists, hygienists, dental nurses, oral health educators and high-quality, dedicated dental support staff.
