We are currently looking for a forward thinking and enthusiastic individual who wants to join our existing team at Wakefield Equipment and Wheelchair Service. If unqualified, the post holder will be supported to achieve an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist Degree at Huddersfield University. This is an exciting training opportunity to become a full HCPC Occupational Therapist or a Physiotherapist. All fees for training will be paid for by the council if required.



If you are not a qualified Occupational or Physiotherapist, applicants will be required to undertake the Occupational Therapist (Integrated Degree) Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard - Occupational therapist (integrated degree) / Apprenticeship standards / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education or Physiotherapist (Integrated Degree) Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard - Physiotherapist (integrated degree) / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education



For entry onto the programme you must hold 120 UCAS points from A levels or recognised Higher Education Diploma with strong science bias.



BBB at A Level preferably in a health-related subject.
Merit at T Level in Health or Healthcare Science.
DDM in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or Applied Science.
NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma/Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care at Grade B.
Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits, 30 at Distinction and 15 at Merit.
You will also need to have Grade C/4 at GSCE in both Maths and English and have access to your certificates as evidence.


There is an eligibility criterion for government funded apprenticeships which require applicants to be aged 16 plus, be a resident in the UK/EU for the last three years.



The role



In this role you will be an integral part of a team who are committed to delivering the highest quality clinical care in supported environment, where you will be valued for your transferable skills. You must be committed, proactive and enthusiastic individual.



You will work in a wide variety of settings including clinics, residential care, people’s own homes in order to deliver quality service.



Successfully undertake the academic components of the Apprenticeship course if you are unqualified whilst, continuing to achieve clinical competencies or Wheelchair Therapists national competencies.



We are looking for:



Knowledge of NHS Wheelchair Services
Knowledge and understanding of promoting people’s independence.
Basic knowledge in anatomy and physiology
Awareness of relevant legislation and standards
Knowledge of the personalisation agenda and national guidance around Personal Wheelchair Budgets
Understanding of environmental requirements in relation to wheelchair specification and usage [powered and non-powered]
Should be a car driver and a car owner.
