Have you got experience with children and looking for a new challenge? Come and join our team at Broomfield Hospital Paediatrics as a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant.
This is an exciting role, the successful applicant will be taught vital skills across a range of paediatric areas regarding caring for children of all ages in an acute setting with various needs.
You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of high standards of care to children and young people who present with medical and complex needs.
In this role you will support and training will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for specified children and young people in a dynamic Paediatric ward according to their individual needs.
You will work with the team flexibly across the children's unit to create a caring and safe environment for children, young people and their families.
You will learn how to assess and recognise clinical deterioration in patients and report to the nurse/doctor in charge of their care by means of monitoring and recording the patient’s condition.
• Performs clinical baseline observations
• Orientates patient and relatives to the environment
• Follows plan of care, reports any changes in the patient’s condition
• Contributes with suggestions and ideas for action
• Reports results of any intervention to nurse in charge
• Records and documents episodes of care in accordance with guidelines
• Undertake daily quality control check on glucometer
• Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained
• Cannulate/venipuncture, take blood samples when requested to
• Provide support to children and young people experiencing mental health issues

The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) brings together key health, care, community, and voluntary sector organisations from across our area. Our aim is to work together in partnership to join up health and care services, improving our populations health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities. One such example of this collaborative work is the launch of ourHCA Academy, an ICS initiative between Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) to support the incoming Health Care assistant (HCA) workforce. The academy models a ‘one workforce’ cross system approach to the onboarding, induction, education and experience of Healthcare Assistants.
Successful candidates to this role will be able to access the additional support provided by the HCA Academy following their induction with MSEFT. This includes development opportunities, pastoral support, staff rewards and access to HCA exclusive resources such as HCA App.
