What skills and experience we're looking for
We are developing a small SEN support class for up 10 pupils to support our highest needs learners in FS and KS1.Every pupil will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Due to the varied Educational, Health and Care needs that each one of our pupils presents, the role will be a varied and fulfilling position.
As a school we have high expectations for all our pupils’ progress and strive to plan and deliver learning which is individualised and focused on the specific needs of every child.
The children who attend our SEN class will also have opportunities for integration with their mainstream peers when this is appropriate. The SEN class teacher will be integral in working with colleagues, both inside and outside of our school, to best meet the needs of our children and to offer collaboration opportunities with our local schools.
Our SEN teacher needs to have the ability, and desire, to direct a small team of Teaching Assistants on a daily basis and ensure that they are performing to their best, in order to secure the maximum possible outcomes for our young people. Confidence in this element of the role is essential as you will work closely with your team every day.
This is a very exciting and unique job role so if you feel that you have the experience and knowledge that this role requires, we would love to hear from you.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, as we believe our children are our best advert. Please arrange an appointment by emailing lisa.thompson@ssscp.org.uk.
The closing date for this application is Sunday 15th June. We regret that we cannot respond to all applicants so if we have not contacted you by 17th June, please assume that your application has not been shortlisted.
Interviews are scheduled for Wednesday 25th June.
What the school offers its staff

• Collaboration opportunities with other local schools;
• A strong supportive ethos with dedicated line management structures and clear communication channels;
• Well-being support including counselling, physiotherapy and a 24 hour GP helpline;
• Amazing children who are enthusiastic and eager to learn
Commitment to safeguarding
St Stephens (Saltash) Community Primary School & Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory completion of safeguarding checks. We work to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice. The procedures contained in the Safeguarding Policy provide evidence of how this will be implemented within the school and within multi-agency working arrangements.
