Family Support Worker - PRU Setting - Islington, N1
Long Term Futures are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington to appoint a Family Support Worker to support vulnerable students and their families.
This role is ideal for a compassionate and proactive individual who can build trust, improve behaviour outcomes, and strengthen family engagement with education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted support to families and children with complex needs, working closely with school staff and external agencies
* Build strong, consistent relationships with students to encourage positive behaviour and improved engagement in school
* Assist in identifying barriers to learning and support families in accessing appropriate services
* Deliver tailored interventions and work closely with parents/carers to improve attendance, punctuality and home-school communication
* Support children within the school day, working alongside pastoral staff and behaviour mentors
* Contribute to safeguarding processes and multi-agency planning where appropriate
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with children and families in educational or social care settings
* Understanding of SEMH, behavioural needs, and trauma-informed approaches
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage hard-to-reach families
* A calm, resilient and empathetic approach to support and intervention
* Experience within a PRU or alternative provision is highly desirable

* Accessible via Angel and Highbury & Islington stations
* Served by local bus routes: 4, 19, 38, 56, 341
