Crynodeb
To diagnose and repair faults in carpentry, joinery and building fabric defects across
the buildings that the Trust own on the Harefield site and own or lease locally off
site. To carry out interior and exterior painting and decorating to a high standard,
either alone or working as part of a multi skilled team.
To have flexibility in working with allied materials using basic building skills, i.e. floor covering repairs, painting, wall protection, ceiling tiles. Repair bed curtain rails and bedside lockers and other ward furniture, hang pictures, mirrors etc. Manufacture and repair Fire Doors.
Repair and maintain Sash windows. Repair wooden floors that may be defective. Undertake form work for concreting. Fix signs and notice boards to wards and offices. Install kitchen units and worktops in conjunction with other trades. Manufacture and repair Fire Doors. Select and set out timber for partitioning or other wooden structures. Carry out duties of a locksmith both in fitting and maintaining magnetic, digital and mechanical locks of all types and cut, programme or supply keys for same. Repair and/or replace site boundary wooden fencing.
Carry out routine duties and Planned Preventative Maintenance of fire doors, windows, internal doors, fixtures and fittings, etc as required.
1. To undertake planned preventative maintenance or emergency work as demanded by a Hospital of this type and use all skills and knowledge to ensure safe methods of working and to carry out maintenance tasks in a safe and cost effective way for the Trust.
2. To understand the workings of engineering services and systems and building structures in NHS/Trust premises. Ensuring that they are maintained to a high standard and that all plant and equipment are utilised in a safe and efficient manner.
3. To carry out work as requested by management/supervision using the appropriate current works electronic docket/request system and ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed as required.
4. To work as part of a departmental team and where necessary to support/assist the work of colleagues, and to be able to work with staff of all levels and disciplines throughout the trust.
5. To provide maintenance service to all Trust buildings, and off site properties and be able to work unsupervised. To have a flexible approach to the work and be able to work beyond the normal hours of duty if required and to carry out other tasks from other disciplines should circumstances so dictate.
6. To ensure work undertaken is completed in a timely manner and that appropriate records are updated through the requisite system.

Provide and receive complex information to inform Work colleagues, patients, clients and contractors with barriers to understanding.

Provides general advice to clients on use of equipment after repair or installation of that equipment.
· Policy & Service development
Follows policies in own role. Comment on policies relating to the department and proposes changes.
· Resource management
Responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of assets. Maintaining equipment, requisition spare parts, repair and maintenance of physical assets, property, fixtures and fittings.
Maintain all department stock levels and re-order when necessary.
· People management
Demonstrates activities to new starters. Supervises maintenance support workers.
· Information management
Complete timesheets, information of job cards, parts required to complete the job and maintenance records.
