This new post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered. Duties will be based primarily on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites. The main duties of the post will include Outpatients (general and specialist) Inpatient respiratory work including the Acute Respiratory Care Unit (Respiratory Level 1 Unit) Urgent and Emergency Care duties for respiratory medicine including out-of-hours on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working On-call duties are currently shared with 16 other colleagues on a specialist respiratory rota, currently assessed as 1 PA to cover post take ward rounds and evening work. On call commitments are as follows: Weekday evening work 3hrs post take ward round 1 in16 weekdays. Weekend work 7hrs post take ward round/ward cover 1 in 8 weekend days. Overnight on call 1 in 16 days. Category A intensity. Time off in lieu will be arranged via the job planning process Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework for revalidation, with at least 1.5 SPA included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service. Examples may include formal teaching responsibilities or departmental leadership roles. Many in the department pursue research interests and/or have a strong commitment to service development and teaching; applicants with a shared enthusiasm for these areas are encouraged. In 2021/22, Respiratory Medicine cared for 5,491 new outpatients and 8,954 follow-up patients.
