What's involved with this role:

Job Title: Temporary Accommodation Officer

Ref: Bristol 5268574

Pay rate: £16.45 per hour PAYE

An Enhanced DBS is required for this role.

A Driving Licence is required for this role as it will involve being out and about visiting properties etc, as well as being in the office.

Hybrid working with an expectation of 2-3 days a week in the office.



The role:

The role involves being part of a team that provides intensive housing management and support to homeless households, particularly those with dependent children. The goal is to maximise the service’s availability and ensure positive outcomes for families while continually improving its delivery.

You will support the Team Leader in delivering the temporary accommodation related Housing Options Service plan objectives. You will provide an efficient, responsive and sensitive housing management and housing related support service to resident households, ensuring that high standards are maintained through the effective working of the Temporary Accommodation Team, complying with the homelessness legislation and Code of Guidance.

There will be a particular focus on lettings and administration as part of this role, as a significant number of new properties are onboarded as part of the Temporary Accommodation portfolio.

You will need to have experience of voids, lettings, income management and Anti-Social Behaviour in order to carry out this role.

Key requirements:

Be responsible for holding a case load, delivering high quality and professional citizen centric services to customers, including a full range of housing options, housing management and housing support across all temporary accommodation including satellite units
Be responsible for undertaking administrative and case file management tasks
Ensure that all cases are supported to move on from temporary accommodation in a sustainable way by providing comprehensive advice and support covering all housing options
Undertake a case management role including rent recovery, debit control, arrears, sign ups, voids, repairs and accommodation management responsibilities
Delivery of the Housing Options service agenda and embedding the new ways of working, systems and prevention processes across the service



What the client is looking for:

Experience in supporting vulnerable people that can include housing, hostel, similar roles or care work. Advising and supporting clients and being familiar with current welfare benefits
Experience of voids, lettings, income management and Anti-Social Behaviour
Knowledge of current homelessness legislation and awareness of the wide range of issues affecting homeless households
An ability to be able to deal with financial matters, including basic financial accounting, ordering goods and managing costs
Knowledge of health and safety issues in shared and temporary accommodation and how these relate to tenancy sustainment accommodation
Strong organisational skills
Ability to maintain an up-to-date knowledge and awareness of policies and relevant legislation, welfare benefits and other relevant services, to ensure resident households receive the highest level of service, advice and support
Excellent communication, mediation and negotiation skills with the ability to converse with citizens and provide complex information
