Are you a compassionate, strategic, and experienced school leader ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people who cannot attend mainstream education due to medical or mental health needs?
Voyage Learning Campus is seeking a dedicated and inspirational Head of Medical Tuition Provision to lead and develop our specialist provision for students with medical needs and Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Based at our Milton site on Baytree Road in Weston-super-Mare, you will oversee day-to-day operations, curriculum delivery, and pastoral care, ensuring that our most vulnerable students receive an exceptional and personalised educational experience.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Principal, the successful candidate will:
• Lead the strategic planning and day-to-day management of the Medical Tuition provision.
• Provide effective leadership, curriculum oversight, and staff development.
• Work with mainstream schools across North Somerset to offer outreach support and reintegration pathways.
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead for the provision.
• Maintain and develop multi-agency partnerships including CAMHS, medical professionals, and the local authority.
• Ensure that statutory education requirements are met, including national exam facilitation and SEND support.
• Deliver a small teaching load (0.2 FTE) tailored to your expertise.
What We’re Looking For
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Qualified Teacher Status and a degree.
• At least 5 years’ teaching experience, including middle leadership.
• A track record in supporting students with SEMH, neurodiversity, and complex medical needs.
• Line management and staff development experience.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
• Ability to design, lead and evaluate inclusive education provision.
Personal qualities:
• A child-centred approach and strong commitment to inclusion.
• Resilience, emotional intelligence, and excellent problem-solving skills.
• High ethical standards and commitment to safeguarding.
• A proactive, collaborative, and flexible leadership style.
