Summary

About us

The LSS is made up of 4 teams who work to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in schools and settings across Salford. Each of these teams is made up of dedicated teachers and teaching assistants who have both experience and additional qualifications in their area of expertise, and we work closely with a range of other professionals to ensure the best possible service for the children and schools of Salford.

About the Role

This is a 3 day per week fixed term position for 12 months from September 2025. Based at Unity House, our teachers work delivering training, providing support to SENCOs and visiting children and young people with identified SEND (with social communication difficulties / ASC) in schools and settings across Salford to support them, their teachers and TAs to ensure that they receive a high quality education. As a teacher with knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with SEND you will also be working to support schools after statutory decisions made by the LA in relation to EHC needs assessments.

About you

A qualified and experienced teacher, you will be an outstanding practitioner with knowledge of legislation in relation to SEN, and also have experience working with children and / or young people with additional needs (ASC / social communication difficulties). You will be comfortable working with a fluctuating caseload across the city, offering assessment and advice across a range of ages and schools. You will also have experience of working with multi-agency partners and be confident to offer INSET and facilitate meetings. You will want to join a team of highly motivated and experienced professionals dedicated to providing excellent support to children, young people and schools.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50.
