Summary
Our client is looking for a Category Manager.
The role will be required to be onsite for 3 days a week and would like someone within 1 hour driving distance from Slough
£50,000 - £60,000 annual salary
Target bonus 10%

Pension – employee 7% employer 11%
The Position Responsibilities: • Assist in developing regional category strategies in alignment with internal stakeholders to drive value throughout the organization. Responsible for executing the agreed upon strategies. • Know and help evaluate potential suppliers of each category to assist in developing category strategies. • Involvement in the on-going risk mitigation process of annual rating of suppliers and agreeing on new raw material projects that mitigate the associated risk. Execute the development plans for each key supplier to improve their risk profile. • Initiate savings by utilizing various strategies such as volume leverage, supplier concentration as well as negotiating prices and terms. • Foster and maintain collaborative long-term partnerships with suppliers to improve total cost of ownership while reducing risk. Know the entire supply stream (tertiary suppliers). • Support the creation, analysis, and reporting of raw material budgets, re forecasts, PPV reports. • Monitor key raw material markets, understand underlying drivers of those markets. • Evaluate supplier performance against predetermined metrics for OTIF, quality, price, innovation, cost savings and risk profiles.• Ensure all procurement activities are lawful, ethical and follow the company's Procurement policies.
Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Purchasing, or Supply Chain. • Master’s (MBA) or postgraduate degree is a plus. • Professional certifications (CIPS) a plus. • 7+ years in Packaging or Packaging related industry. • Experience With a Shared Services/centralized sourcing team. • Demonstrated Supplier Relationship Management capability. • Knowledge of risk management including contract development and management. • Proven cost optimization track record, including demonstrated negotiation proficiency. • Global/Regional sourcing experience.
Essential Skills and Characteristics Required • Proven negotiation and contract development skills. • Effective communication and presentation skills to both internal and external entities. • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven team-building experience. • Ability to analyze raw material markets. • Experience in implementing an MRP system (ideally SAP) and utilizing Microsoft Office software. • Change management skills – an attitude/willingness to continuously improve on current processes. • Self-motivated, quick learner, organized, multi-tasker.• Strategic thinker.
