A Vacancy at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are delighted to invite applications to join our small, friendly and well established Pharmacy Medicines Finance/ Therapeutics team as a specialist pharmacist.

This exciting, fixed term/secondment opportunity covering maternity leave has arisen for an experienced clinical pharmacist looking to develop their pharmacy career through using, or improving on skills in critical appraisal, change management, risk assessment, communications and training.

The successful candidate will use their varied clinical experience to support the work of the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee (DTC) and Trust-wide pharmacy-led Quality Improvement and Waste reduction programme. You’ll work closely with the Lead Pharmacists for Medicines Finance and Drugs and Therapeutics, as well as specialty clinical teams across the Trust, to maximise the value from medicine used within the Trust and accelerate the safe access to new medicines by optimising the work of the DTC.

We are looking for a forward-thinking and dynamic individual who is motivated to learn, innovate and push the service forward.

There will be opportunities to lead specific project and audit work to develop your own skills, whilst enhancing patient care. The post is offered as full time fixed term with clinical commitment, but part-time working would be considered for a suitable candidate.

If you have any questions about the post please do not hesitate to get in touch with James Sutton or Deborah Storer on the contact details provided.

This role is intended to support, expand and accelerate two critical work streams of the Trust’s Medicine Optimisation agenda, the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee and the Pharmacy Medicines Quality Improvement and Waste Reduction programme, working closely with the Lead Pharmacists and Lead Technicians for these areas

The successful candidate will have a background in hospital pharmacy with strong interpersonal and presentation skills, combined with an ability to critically analyse information and summarise evidence to support decision making.

The post will undertake and present critical appraisals of new formulary applications or medicines saving schemes including clinical evidence, safety and economic analysis. They will also advise on and facilitate the safe implementation of new medications within the Trust, through the development of new guidelines or protocols with associated communication, education and training.

The successful candidate will be expected to work at both main campuses and have a core clinical service commitment. You will be required to participate in a rostered flexible shift working system including weekend and bank holiday arrangements over a 7 day period and support the on-call pharmacists through the senior pharmacist back-up rota.
