**Head Teacher / Nursery Leader**
**Job description**
This is a unique opportunity for a proven leader to run the UK's leading intergenerational nursery, providing strategic leadership, financial oversight, curriculum planning, and compliance with statutory requirements, safeguarding, and operational management. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, Apples and Honey Nightingale is a not-for-profit daycare and pre-school, co-located with a residential care home set in beautiful and secure grounds near Wandsworth Common. We provide high-quality education, care, and a safe learning environment for early years children within a Jewish intergenerational setting. Experience of working in a Jewish environment or intergenerational it not required, but a willingness to learn it, is.
**Essential Qualifications & Skills**
-Level 3 Early Years qualification (commitment to Level 4).
-Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Safer Recruitment training.
-Strong IT and administrative skills are desirable.
**Experience & Knowledge**
-Minimum five years of leadership experience in an early years setting.
-Sound knowledge of EYFS, child development, and curriculum planning.
-Experience in staff management, performance evaluation, and policy implementation.
-Understanding of safeguarding, SEN Code of Practice, and equality policies.

**Key Responsibilities:**
**Strategic Leadership & Management**
-Develop and implement strategies for growth and development in conjunction with the Board.
-Ensure all statutory, legal, and regulatory obligations are met.
-Maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and key stakeholders.
-Recruit, lead, and manage all teaching and non-teaching staff.
-Oversee performance management, training, and development of staff.
**Teaching & Learning**
-Ensure a high-quality, child-centred curriculum aligned with EYFS, Jewish ethos, and intergenerational principles.
-Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, learning, and child development.
-Develop curriculum plans that are inclusive and support all children’s learning needs.
-Promote assessment for learning, ensuring accurate monitoring and progression tracking.
-Support children and families in accessing additional services where needed.
**Safeguarding & Compliance**
-Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring adherence to safeguarding policies and statutory requirements.
-Promote a strong culture of safeguarding and child welfare among staff.
-Ensure compliance with health & safety, GDPR, and equal opportunities policies.
**Business Growth & Financial Management**
-Work with the Business Manager to manage budgets and financial performance.
-Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote enrolment and revenue growth.
-Maintain and enhance the nursery’s reputation, protecting our ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
**Operational Management & Systems**
-Oversee daily operations, ensuring a well-structured and safe environment for children.
-Ensure that children receive a balanced, healthy diet following kosher principles.
-Work with the Board to develop policies, operational procedures, and improvement plans.
