What's involved with this role:

JOB TITLE: HR Officer

REF: Cheshire East 5266114

Pay rate: £19.66 per hour PAYE

The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an experienced HR Officer to deliver professional HR services to managers, employees, and schools.

You will support senior HR staff in implementing local HR delivery plans, aligning people solutions with business needs, and driving continuous improvement to ensure the people requirements of the Council and Schools are met.

Employee management experience is essential for this role, and you must be a member of CIPD.

Key responsibilities:

Support the Workforce Strategy delivery to ensure effective recruitment, resourcing, and retention across Schools and the Council
Manage HR casework, advising on discipline, grievance, and capability hearings, ensuring legal compliance and fair treatment
Provide specialist HR support on recruitment, attendance management, TUPE, and other matters to ensure consistent policy implementation
Advise Schools and Services on HR policies, procedures, and terms of service to meet business needs and ensure fair employee management
Contribute to the development and communication of HR policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices
Analyse workforce data and provide advice on financial matters to support informed management decisions
Support employee relations and participate in Joint Consultative and Negotiating Panels to foster effective working relationships
Offer HR support for projects and initiatives, ensuring smooth implementation of HR changes across Schools and Council services
Conduct job evaluations, ensuring consistency and defensibility at appeal
Provide training and briefings to raise awareness of HR matters and promote good HR practices
Represent HR in interdisciplinary working groups to ensure effective service integration



What the client is looking for:

CIPD member
Post-qualification HR experience providing advice across various HR activities
Knowledge of HR policies, employment law, case law, and organisational design principles
Familiarity with job evaluation methodology and policy development research
Employee management experience
Understanding of HR regulations, rules, and legislation
In-depth knowledge of HR policies (e.g., discipline, grievance, capability)
Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT tools
Strong skills in data analysis, report writing, and presenting information clearly
