Summary
We are looking for a very friendly, patient, professional individual who has full knowledge, experience and understanding of Autism, to assist in looking after my 10 year old son.
The PA would also need to hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle. We would also prefer the PA to be first aid trained too, if possible.
We have funding for 6 hours per week during School term (Saturdays will be required), and 8 hours per week during School Holidays.
We live in Staplehurst, Kent.
Assistance desired predominantly during weekends. The activities our son enjoys are both outdoor and indoor activities, as he is a Proprioceptive and Vestibular Sensory Input seeker and loves being in parks, swimming, indoor trampoline or playcentres or at his gymnastics club Pegasus, Maidstone on Saturdays. He is a very happy, energetic and pleasant child to work with.
He also enjoys playing on his Ipad and snacking on his favourite treats following a trip to a shop. He loves and seeks routine.
He has a basic level of communication – he can tell carers what his basic needs and wants are – often by using 4 or 5 words in a sentence. Theo can also communicate using visual aids.
He is able to show whether he is happy, excited or sad. His body language is also very telling.
He has some safety awareness and sense of danger but will require careful supervision, in particular around busy roads or car parks.
He shows when he is upset by communicating verbally but will also show his emotions through body language.
He is very sociable loves being around other children, but may need support to take turns or when waiting.
He needs very little or no help with all his daily self-care routine.
If you have any other questions or would like to meet him, please do get in contact with us.
Kindly contact Leah Istratescu on leahistratescu@yahoo.co.uk or 07786 813507
