JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-Time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 55 year old woman living in the St Athan area. I have cats and a young assistance/medical alert dog (in training) at home.
I am currently ambulatory disabled and with my disabled shower rooms I can usually shower/wash myself; however, I am unsteady on my feet, I cannot use my right arm without pain and I have loss of sensation in my hands (carpal tunnel syndrome) and feet; hence the level of safeguarding care supervision needed.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
I am looking for a PA to support/supervise me at home with my personal care needs and to help prepare breakfast or lunch.
RATE(S) OF PAY
£14.30 per hour.
Double time on any bank holidays worked.
HOURS OF WORK
I have 10.5 hours per week available currently and this will be worked across 7 days per week. Potential for more hours if the tasks take up more time than expected.
1 hour each morning ideally 6-7 or 7-8.
30 minutes each evening ideally between 9 and 11.
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
7 Mornings - 1 hour
- Support to get up & out of bed.
- Safely accompany to toilet.
- Supervise walking downstairs.
- Supervise medication (memory issues) with fluids & reminder to brush teeth & rinse mouth immediately after steroid inhaler.
- Assist with dressing/undressing for pain-management hydrotherapy treatment (in rear garden).
- Supervise 1/2 hour treatment (can either, watch or, get in too)
- After treatment care: supervised self-care i.e. showering and dressing, including assistance with drying and brushing hair.
- Preparation of breakfast and lunch meals.
7 Evenings – 30 minutes
- Supervise climbing upstairs.
- Safely accompany to toilet.
- Supervise medication (memory issues) with prepared overnight drink.
- Reminder to brush teeth & rinse mouth immediately after steroid inhaler.
- Supervise self-care i.e. showering or, flannel wash and moisturise skin, including assistance brushing hair.
- Assist with undressing/dressing.
- Lock front door.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Must be a patient person.
A kind and compassionate person.
Someone with a good sense of humour.
Someone who is happy to work in a home with cats and a dog.
Preferably over 25 and a driving license holder to be added onto my mobility vehicle.
A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a four-weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
