The role of Moving and Handling Advisor is central to enhancing staff and patient safely by assisting with the development, delivery and review of clinical education, with a primary focus on moving and handling.
This involves designing and continually improving moving and handling training programmes across a range of settings (including in situ), using creative, evidence-based learning methods to meet the needs of our diverse workforce.
The Manual Handling Advisor will ensure that training provided is engaging, relevant and high-quality that considers the cognitive, physical, and organisational factors influencing safe practice. You will support the continuous improvement of our moving and handling training provision.
• Delivering gold standard people moving and handling training in line with current legislation, national guidance and Trust policy.
• Enabling staff through practical and theoretical education to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury.
• Supporting the promotion of a positive health and safety culture and contributing to wider education initiatives.
• Active participation in regular continuous professional development with the team.
• Development and delivery of mandatory and specialist bespoke training sessions and training needs analysis.
• High quality advice and support relating to manual handling/ergonomic challenges that may present.
• Contributing to audit and evaluation of manual handling practices across the Trust.
You should have a sound knowledge of current manual handling legislation, experience in delivering training within a healthcare setting, and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
