Sherwood Forest Hospitals is offering an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Ophthalmic Nurse Injector to join our dedicated team. This position is an ideal fit for an Ophthalmic-trained nurse who is passionate about providing high-quality care and is eager to develop within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

As an Ophthalmic Nurse Injector, you will play a vital role in delivering intravitreal injections (IVT) to patients, primarily within Minster Ward at Newark Hospital and Clinic 8 at Kingsmill Hospital. This is a key clinical role in the management of ophthalmic conditions, particularly age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal disorders that require regular IVT treatments.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering compassionate and efficient care to patients, ensuring that all procedures are carried out in line with best practice guidelines and hospital policies. You will be part of a close-knit team of nurses, healthcare assistants, and ophthalmic consultants working together to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care.

This is a varied and dynamic role, where no two days are the same. You will work across multiple hospital sites, which will provide you with the flexibility to broaden your skills and gain experience in different clinical settings.
• Administer intravitreal injections (IVT) to patients, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient service delivery in our intravitreal clinics.
• Support the delivery of training and competency packages for the administration of IVT injections.
• Participate in audits, evaluations, and observations to ensure compliance with policies and protocols.
• Provide specialist nursing advice and post-injection care to patients and carers, addressing concerns and ensuring well-being.
• Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new equipment and services related to Ophthalmic care.
• Ensure the accurate recording of patient information, both manually and electronically, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
• Report any adverse incidents or errors promptly, ensuring patient and staff safety.
• Be proactive in service development, proposing improvements and embracing modernisation within the team.
• Maintain and develop your professional portfolio, ensuring continuous learning and revalidation.
