Summary
Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is responsible for ensuring children with special educational needs are fully included and supported. You will lead the implementation of the nursery's SEN policy, identifying and addressing individual needs, and coordinating with parents and external professionals.
Key Responsibilities of the SENCo:
Identifying and assessing SEN:
Identifying children who may have SEN, assessing their needs, and developing individualized plans.
Supporting colleagues:
Advising and supporting nursery staff in understanding and meeting the needs of children with SEN.
Parent collaboration:
Ensuring parents are actively involved in the process, understanding their insights, and working collaboratively.
Liaising with external agencies:
Coordinating with professionals like speech therapists, psychologists, and other relevant agencies.
Monitoring progress:
Evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and support plans to ensure children are progressing as expected.

Professional development:
Staying current with best practices in SEN education and seeking further training to enhance skills.
