Lead Engineer
UK Remote First (occasional travel to Hemel Hempstead)

Your Opportunity:
- Steer
the technical direction and output of a multidisciplinary squad
- Collaborate
closely with Product Managers and UX Designers to define and deliver the
backlog
- Balance
hands-on coding with strategic oversight (approx. 60/40 split)
- Drive
engineering best practices across design, implementation, and testing
- Foster
a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
- Champion
simplicity, scalability, and sustainability across digital solutions
- Build
strong stakeholder relationships and provide clear, non-jargon progress
updates
- Support
junior engineers through mentoring and professional development
- Influence
broader digital initiatives and cross-squad collaboration
- Stay
curious, keep learning, and bring fresh thinking to the table
What we’d like you to bring:
Proven experience as a senior or lead software engineer in a product centric environment
Expert in at least one of Dart or TypeScript—and familiar with Flutter, React or Node.js
Strong knowledge of SOLID principles, Clean Code and modern testing practices (TDD etc.)
Proficiency in Agile, Lean and OKRs; you know how to keep a team on track and thriving
Comfortable working full stack, and across cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and alerting tools
Great communicator, with the ability to turn complex tech into everyday language
Naturally collaborative with a coaching mindset
A passion for software craftsmanship and engineering excellence
An eagerness to learn and a curiosity that never quits
