The Role
As a Buyer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. As the focal point for the Delivery Team, you will be responsible for managing the bought-out needs of the programme working with the Delivery Team and other stakeholders.

Day-to-day, you'll work with the Senior Buyer and Project Procurement Manager to deliver goods and/or services for the company at the best total acquisition cost.

  • Up to date supply chain information through order book management and associated reporting
  • Identified value opportunities and levers
  • Facilitate supplier relationships, becoming the point of contact and undertaking supplier visits
  • Prepare, issue and review supplier RFQ's, recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare, issue Purchase Orders for goods and/or Services for the company

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides flexible hybrid working arrangements with working days onsite and working days working from home.

Essential Experience of the Buyer

  • A proven track record working within a supply chain role, preferably in a Defence or Engineering environment
  • Background of Purchasing within Manufacturing or Engineering (desirable)
  • Experience with operational procurement (desirable)
  • Knowledge of commercial business practices and proven communication skills, both verbally and written

Qualifications for the Buyer

  • Be willing to work towards membership of a relevant professional body, for example the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply at a Level 4 or above or equivalent business-related qualification

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to achieve Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
