An opportunity has arisen to join our team at Colchester Hospital. We are inviting applications for two Locally Employed Doctors (LED) at a level of FY3 in Geriatric and General Medicine.
The current structure of the service will encompass working across the four Older Adult Wards at Colchester Hospital, as well as the additional, newly-opened ‘medically-optimised ward’, as required. Acute services are based at Colchester Hospital with bed based rehabilitation units in Clacton and Harwich Hospital.
The successful candidate will join the resident doctor’s team based at Colchester Hospital. They will work with an older people services Consultant, and resident doctor ward team managing patients on one of the Older Peoples Wards. The post is rotational with opportunities to rotate to a different older people’s ward.
Working within the clinical Guidance of the Consultant and Registrar, you will support active management of patients on the ward, using your clinical Judgment and experience to escalate more complex patients for management under more direct guidance and instruction of the Registrar initially, with overall clinical planning and accountability under the direction of the Ward Consultant. This will involve a daily consultant led board round, weekly MDT meeting and monthly clinical governance meeting.

The post holder will be expected to provide appropriate clinical management of patient as part the progressive, innovative multidisciplinary ward team, effectively managing their own time in supporting the registrar and ward consultant and working closely with the ward sister, nursing team and therapy teams to deliver excellent clinical care.
The role is ward based, there is no on-call or expectation of weekend working.
