TeacherActive is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and proactive School Caretaker to join our friendly and dedicated team.
Located in the heart of Croydon, our school takes pride in providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors—and we are looking for someone who shares that same commitment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Opening and securing the school premises each day

  
  

• Ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of the school buildings and grounds

  
  

• Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks

  
  

• Monitoring health and safety standards across the site

  
  

• Overseeing contractors on site and reporting issues where needed

  
  

• Managing stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies

  
  

• Responding to urgent issues such as spills, breakages, or weather-related hazards

  
  

• Supporting with school events and setting up furniture or equipment as required

  
  The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role (preferred)

    
    

  • A practical, hands-on approach with good DIY skills

    
    

  • A strong sense of responsibility and pride in maintaining high standards

    
    

  • Good communication and time-management skills

    
    

  • The ability to work independently and use initiative

    
    

  • Basic IT skills for record keeping (training provided if needed)

    
    

  • A flexible attitude and willingness to support the wider school team

    
    

  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to the safety of children
