This role is part time and flexible - hours to be arranged with family, although there is the possibility of full time work. Applications from students looking to work 15 hours or less welcome.

Family home is in a beautiful setting in the countryside near Gorebridge and Vogrie Country Park, but not on a bus route. Own transport is essential.

DUTIES
Assisting with daily living - Lachlan has his own apartment within the family house, and duties may involve reading books, assisting Lachlan to choose and listen to music and TV, preparation of simple foods and snacks, and other activities.

Trips out and socialising - there is a van available for this, with ramp access. Outings to the coast/ beach, local attractions or into Edinburgh (pubs, cinema, concerts, theatre, museums, galleries, events).

Communication - Lachlan uses both low tech and high tech communication. He uses a yes/no system and he uses a communication device which he operates with eye gaze (here is a YouTube link which details what this device is and does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7_f-pR8SBY). Assistance with this would be required but training would be provided.

All Personal Care - including bathing, assisting with meals and hoist transfers.
