Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Grade/ Clinical Fellow to complement our established and experienced Breast Radiology team.

North Tees hospital houses a modern, purpose built breast unit where radiologists and surgeons work jointly to ensure as much of a one stop service as is possible. The unit has an excellent reputation for high quality patient care and we are proud of the first class breast imaging service the Trust provides covering the population of East Durham, Stockton on Tees, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will undertake a minimum of 5 PAs of breast radiology. Candidates who wish to work entirely within Breast Radiology or those who wish for a more mixed Breast/General Radiology role will be considered. Duties of the General Radiology role would include participation in the general radiology on call service (currently 1:12), supported by overnight outsourcing (Nighthawk). There is no requirement to perform complex intervention (such as nephrostomy) out of hours. Candidates employed wholly within Breast Radiology will not be expected to participate in out of hours provision.

The General Radiology service is well equipped, with modern facilities including multiple Dual and Single Source Siemens CT scanners, 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners, SPECT-CT and recently upgraded ultrasound facilities. Philips (Carestream) PACS was installed in 2020 and regional image sharing via a Global Worklist is expected to go live in early 2022. Fully specified home workstations are provided for general radiologists to support insourcing and home working.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust now form University Hospitals Tees and as such you may be required to work at any site across both Trusts.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition – a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.

We support the Making Every Contact Count approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

We recruit for values and “Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool”
