**Job Title:** Quality Engineer

**Location:** Worcester
**Salary:** £32,000 per annum
**Reports To:** Quality Manager
**Main Purpose of the Role:**

To provide a proactive and cross-functional conduit between the Quality and Manufacturing teams. Developing cost-effective and efficient production methods to meet customer requirements while complying with relevant standards. Where necessary, it may be a requirement to deputise for the Quality Senior, therefore acting as Quality Representative in their absence.
**Key Responsibilities and Duties**

**DIMENSIONS**

* Exercise the highest degree of discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive data and information.
* Assist the Quality Team to achieve departmental requirements.
* Create documentation necessary to reflect work breakdown structures required to manufacture products, components, and systems safely and efficiently, ensuring production targets and timescales are met.
* Provide feedback to Production Engineering and Estimating teams to support future business opportunities and bids.
* Promote awareness and use of the Business Management System, identifying opportunities for training and improvement.
* Provide technical support to Production personnel, addressing queries in a timely fashion.
* Assist in managing the transfer of information related to Change Control of engineering drawings.
* Evaluate build documentation to identify improvements and further requirements, creating or updating as needed.
* Manage non-conformances from systems and manufacturing outputs, updating internal/customer/supplier registers and progressing timely resolutions.
* Perform regular and routine Patrol Inspections of manufacturing areas, recording data appropriately.
* Review and develop manufacturing processes, conduct quality checks, and troubleshoot faulty parts, jigs, and fixtures.
* Assist in planning and coordinating effective production and quality outputs.
* Collate and update KPI data and communications boards.
* Assist with reviewing and updating Training Matrices for Production and Inspection personnel.
**Qualifications**
----------------------------------------------------
* **Desirable:** Degree in an Engineering discipline
* **Preferred:** Auditor training
* **Required:** Demonstrable experience or portfolio
**Previous Experience**
----------------------------------------------------
**Essential:**
----------------------------------------------------
* Minimum 3 years current experience in a similar position within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Experience leading or championing projects.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Strong document and data control background.
* Quality-aware (BS EN ISO 9001: current version) and experience in customer-focused environments.
* Ability to prioritise workload and work with minimal supervision.
* Experience with detailed report writing, work instructions, QA, and safety documentation.
* Strong IT skills with accurate data entry and attention to detail.
* Proactive and efficient working to meet deadlines and time-bound targets.
* Team player with a hands-on, flexible approach and willingness to learn new skills.
* Experience with inspection activities and procedural requirements in Defence, Rail, or Automotive industries.
* Strong problem-solving skills using root cause analysis tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys), with evidence-based decision-making.
* Experience producing quality documentation in line with customer requirements (e.g., PFMEA, Control Plans).
**Desirable:**

* Experience using CMM or multi-axis measuring tools (e.g., FARO).
* Experience creating First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation.
* Knowledge of or qualification in Lean Six Sigma.
* Planning experience, including New Product Introduction (NPI) and product life cycle management.
* Familiarity with standards such as EN 15085-2, ISO 3834, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
* Experience with Defence (AQAPs, MIL-STDs), Rail (RIS), and Automotive (IATF) standards.
* Experience in supplier development, auditing, and supply chain quality management.
