Are you looking for a new exciting role?
Within this role you will have the opportunity to be a part in:
· First class opportunity to undertake clinical assessment of a suspected stroke or TIA in an adult patient referred as an emergency to hospital or in an out-patientsetting.
· Supervised learning to arrange and interpret appropriate investigations, self- sufficiency in imaging like brain scan and carotid Doppler to support or exclude diagnosis of a suspected stroke or TIA and its cause.
· Learning to manage hyper acute treatment for stroke including reperfusion treatments like thrombolysis and referring appropriate patients for Mechanical Thrombectomy to Thrombectomy centres. Ability to assess and manage TIA patients and recognize stroke mimics.
· Learning to manage immediate post-acute care of stroke including end-of-life care for stroke patients.
· TrainingtoabletomanagesecondarypreventionstrategiesfollowingstrokeorTIA.
· Contributetopost-dischargemedicalcare,rehabilitation,andlongertermsocial and vocational integration.
· Recruitinmulticentertrialsofstrokeasanindependentrecruiterandabletodesign and help existing research projects.
· Opportunitiestocontributetothedevelopmentofastrokeserviceandprovide leadership to such a service.
· Undertake teaching and training of stroke related topics for medicalundergraduates, post-graduates and other healthcare professionals
TheJob Role:
· Youwillbeexpectedtoshowqualitiesofleadershipbutalsotoknowyour limitations and call for help and advice appropriately.
· You will begin to work independently.
· Liaise between nurses, other junior doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
· Attend to the day-to-day management of day cases, out-patients, and in-patients.
· Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled.
· Attend general and specialist outpatient and diagnostic clinics.
· Teach medical students as directed.
· Supervise, monitor, and assist the junior doctors.
· Take part in rostered emergency work.
· To keep up-to date with all administrative duties including letters, results and discharge summaries as required.
· Attend weekly and or monthly educational and multidisciplinary sessions such as the Neurovascular radiology meeting; weekly Thrombolysis, Thrombectomy, Stroke unit breach meeting; Monthly Mortality and Morbidity meeting involving mortality reviews through SJRs; Monthly SSNAP performance review meetings; and bimonthly Stroke service meeting.
· Comply with all local policies.
