Summary
The Urology Department has an exciting clinical post opportunity available!
The postholder will join our expanding team to support the delivery of acute and elective urological care for the local population as a substantive member of the team. This post will suit someone who has sufficient experience at a consultant grade and is the process of achieving specialist registration in Urology through the CESR route. There will be the opportunity to develop subspecialist interests that complement the departments breadth of expertise. Please kindly read the JD for more information.
The successful candidate will work independently with their own clinics and theatre lists with consultant colleague support where needed and effectively active up as a consultant. The post will also involve covering clinics and theatre lists of other consultants.The post is for 11 programmed activities.
A flexible team-player, who is dynamic, accommodating and has thedriveto develop our service is the keystone to this appointment. You will join a team of 6 vibrant Consultant colleagues, who provide a range of specialist urological treatment, to deliver a 1 in 7 on-call service that provides Consultant-delivered care in the form of elective activity-free, Consultant-of-the-Week (CotW) model of care.
The successful candidate will also partake in a 1 in 7 weeknight and weekend on call providing acute adult and core paediatric urology care. Although there is no formal provision for mentoring, this is something the trust is working towards and Consultants within the department have a strong culture of supporting consultants particularly with specialist operations. Time will be allocated for travel between sites where required. Office space will be available at both the St Albans and Watford General Hospital sites.
Applicants should ideally be working towards obtaining their CCT/CESR.
With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
