An opportunity has arisen to join a community Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team. The team provide IPAC a service internally to NCH&C and externally to all emerging infections e.g. MPox, Meningococcal Meningitis, Avian flu, Tuberculosis. This role provides an exciting diverse range of activity across Norfolk and Waveney footprint.

The post is accountable to the IPAC Deputy Lead Practitioner for the day-to-day IP&C management across NCHC and to an on-going improvement in the quality of the patient’s experience.

The post holder has a responsibility to monitor and act upon standards of Infection Prevention & Control that fall below the acceptable standard and legislative responsibilities.

This position is involved in ensuring Trust complies with its legislative and licensing requirements, i.e. The Health and Social Care Act 2008, and for the provision of specialist advice and guidance for all health care professionals and support staff across the Trust.

To respond to emerging infection / communicable disease in the wider Norfolk and Waveney community.

See the job description for full duties:
• To act as a subject matter expert (SME) demonstrating advanced knowledge and skill beyond that associated with traditional nursing roles, including the integration of research evidence into practice by expert clinical reasoning and decision making.
• As an acknowledged expert in the provision of patient management in relation to Infection Prevention & Control the post holder will, where required, make independent clinical decisions, initiate investigations, be responsible for advising on the management of defined group/groups of patients.
• To utilise clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based knowledge in the management of patients with highly complex presentations and to be clinically competent to utilise expert skills and knowledge in a variety of clinical settings.
• To develop, establish and implement guidelines and clinician led initiatives, particularly where precedents do not exist.
• To implement the strategic and operational plan of IP&C services
• Embed the development of professional practice within the Trust, in relation to IP&C.
