Crynodeb
The non-consult weeks typically involve 3-4 sessions of training in advanced imaging/cardio-oncology/advanced heart failure/inherited heart disease (as per the clinical fellows career requirements), 2-3 clinics (general cardiology/specialised cardiology) and sessions for admin/research/audit/teaching. The rota is compliant with the European Working Time Directive.There are numerous educational opportunities at BHC including a number of weekly Cardiology teaching and departmental meetings. There are a number of MDT meetings run in specialised cardiology (e.g. heart failure, cardio-oncology, heart muscle disease, ACHD, infective endocarditis, valve, TAVI etc.) which offer considerable learning opportunities. Fellows are supported to achieve formal competencies in their chosen areas (e.g. level 3 in cardiac MRI/CT, accreditation in heart failure from the ESC, certification in cardio-oncology from ICOS etc.). Educational supervision is provided.
