Key Duties: To undertake routine and complex diagnostic PET CT & Nuclear Medicine investigations and maintain a high standard of technical skill, efficiency and patient care in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures. To ensure that standards are maintained in accordance with departmental protocols and national guidelines. To assist with the provision of an efficient service and to ensure that patients remain in the department for the minimum possible time, consistent with satisfactory clinical, technical and radiological requirements. To prepare pharmaceuticals labelled with radioactivity under aseptic conditions for intravenous administration to patients. To perform venepuncture and cannulation to administer radioactive substances whilst working under safe practices. To inform patients, carers and other members of staff about Nuclear Medicine procedures, examination preparation and aftercare. Provide routine advice to patients undergoing administration of radioactive materials as well as to staff or relatives providing care to such patients, to ensure the risks of exposure to ionising radiation are understood by the concerned parties. To organise routine/urgent work to optimise and maintain the throughput of patients in the department. Ensure that the results of all imaging procedures are of the required standard as per the departmental quality system.
