An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Endoscopy nursing team as Deputy Unit Manager.
We are looking for a qualified nurse who wishes to further their career and to join our existing team. You will be working closely with the Ward Manager and deputising in their absence.
You will be committed to providing high quality care to a range of patients with differing needs and be willing to embrace new role opportunities. You should be able to work as part of a team and be able to use your initiative.
Please note you are required to hold NMCRegistrationto apply for this role.
Candidates are required to present original certificates for qualifications at interview stage.
Under the supervision of the Unit Manager the Unit Sister / Charge Nurse will be responsible for the delivery of nursing care to all patients in his/her care.
Effective communication is essential both with patients, their families and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe effective care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures
To adhere to NMC code of conduct.

Planning and Organisational Duties
· Accountable for nursing practice in line with NMC and JAG guidelines
· Participates in the assessment, care and discharge of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures
· To adhere to Trust policies and guidelines and current legislation
· To ensure privacy and dignity standards are met at all times
Communications and Key Working Relationships
· To communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team regarding patient care
· To contribute to unit meetings in order to make service improvements
· To respect fellow colleagues and their opinions
Responsibility for Finance
• To be aware of resources and give high-quality cost-effective care..
Responsibility for Human Resources
· In conjunction with the Unit Manager, participate in induction programmes, introducing new staff to the unit and their duties
· Provide a supportive and developmental environment in which staff are motivated to realise their full potential as identified through Performance Development Review and the implementation of the Knowledge and Skills framework.
· Ensure that staff under his/her direction is managed in line with HR policies and procedures, paying particular attention to capability, conduct, performance and attendance management.
Responsibility for Health & Safety
• Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 – the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
Responsibility for Teaching
· Take personal responsibility for developing and maintaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professionalism awareness in conjunction with NMC guidance
· Attend mandatory training as directed by the Trust
· In conjunction with the Unit Manager, help create and maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and students and act as a mentor in the supervision and teaching of less experienced staff.
· To develop own teaching skills and leadership skills and participate in education programmes supervising unqualified nurses and students as directed.
