BANGOR UNIVERSITY

NORTH WALES MEDICAL SCHOOL

Lecturer in Medical Molecular Biology (T&R)

(Ref: BU03774)

Salary: £37,099 - £44,263 p.a. (Grade 7)

As part of our commitment to the continued expansion of pharmacy and medicine at Bangor University, the newly formed North Wales Medical School seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Medical Molecular Biology to support an established and successful postgraduate Master’s programme in Medical Molecular Biology with Genetics (MedMBG), including delivery of lectures and tutorials, supervision of research practicals, and direction of research projects. This post will also contribute to the development of our growing portfolio of research and programmes in medical, pharmaceutical and health sciences. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching undergraduate students, including modules within the pharmacology, pharmacy and biomedical sciences degree programmes.

Applications are invited from candidates with a PhD (or be near completion) and postdoctoral research experience in biomedical sciences, including cell biology, molecular genetics, immunology, (immuno)oncology, or related discipline. Research and collaboration opportunities exist across the NWMS and within the North West Cancer Research Institute which houses well-equipped research laboratories, focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer and translational research to improve cancer detection and treatment.

The post is full-time and permanent, and the successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as practical. Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Applications will only be accepted via our on-line recruitment website, jobs.bangor.ac.uk. However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application forms are available by telephoning 01248 383865.

Interested applicants are invited to contact Dr Jonathan Blank, Centre Lead for the North West Cancer Research Institute, e-mail j.blank@bangor.ac.uk or Professor Stephen Doughty, Professor of Pharmacy and Head of North Wales Medical School, e-mail s.doughty@bangor.ac.uk, for an informal conversation prior to submission of an application.

Closing date for applications: 03 June 2025

Interviews for this position are to be held as soon as possible following the closing date.

Committed to Equal Opportunities.
